Becoming a commercial real estate broker: Mentorship and teamwork

Cooperation magnifies us. Mentorship is a key principle at NAI Elliott because sharing experiences elevates all of us. Retail brokers George Macoubray, Nick Stanton and Gael Zongazo share how they came together and now work as team to best serve their clients.

George Macoubray, VP of retail brokerage has been a commercial real estate broker for over 35 years. Over that time, one of the things he’s enjoyed is bringing on new people. Training a new broker allows him to look at what he’s doing and think through his own processes again to make sure they’re doing things the right way.

Having had successful careers separately, George and Nick Stanton teamed up about 14 years ago to bring better service to their clients. Over the years, they have learned things from each other had a great cooperative working relationship. They work together on all of their deals, even if one of them may take the lead on a particular property or with a certain client. In the background, they are always discussing the best options for their clients and working together for the best outcome.

This year, they brought on Gael Zongazo to join their team. With a background in residential real estate and accounting, he seemed like a good fit for commercial real estate. Now as a team of three, George and Nick are enjoying passing their knowledge along. Whether they’re together or working remotely, they stay in regular contact through constant communication. Even though he’s still new to the commercial real estate industry, Gael already has real experience talking and emailing with the tenant and leasing manager and seeing a deal come together with George and Nick’s oversight.
